About Us

In the 1990's Shannon McCoy aka Coach McCoy founded SAND HAMMER® and SAND HAMMER Volleyball Association™, the foundational brands for his close knit, grassroots athletic organization.

Being a California native, the brand logo was sketched out to fit the founder’s passion for waves, surf, and even vintage Volkswagens that Shannon absolutely loved restoring. As an avid volleyball player, natural bodybuilder, and the owner of a tricked-out VW, I guess you can say that everything started taking shape authentically.

This clothing line was designed in the spirit of all things beach, with our brand name being catalyzed after watching pro beach volleyball player Adam Johnson (aka AJ) during a tournament on Manhattan Beach, California under the AVP (Associated Volleyball Professionals) circuit.

Sand Hammer Beachwear captures the essence and artistic flare of players like AJ, his flamboyant wedge-style haircut and wicked-fast arm swing, as well as some of the professional surfers who artistically attack waves as if it were a divine calling.

After moving to Florida, the owner revived his clothing designs and unique brand, vowing to make this company a world class symbol of “endless beach culture.
